2023 Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is back! The festival officially returned to the red carpet for its 76th year and celebrities, models and Hollywood elite graced the red carpet with the elegance and grandeur that’s come to be expected with this French film festival.

Here are 8 of my favorite (women’s) looks from the 2023 Cannes Film Festival

  1. Elle Fanning in Alexander McQueen - Alexander McQueen has and, always will be, one of my favorite designers of all time. This is a Rock N Roll PRINCESS dress and I just love it. So McQueen. So cool.

  2. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior - I am always excited to see what Jennifer Lawrence will wear on a red carpet. Her laissez faire personality is always reflected in her fashion choices and this year’s Dior dress did not disappoint. The gown, custom Dior couture , and her subtle yet pretty makeup made Jennifer look like a modern day Little Red Riding hood, sans hood. She paired the gorgeous gown with flip flops; a not-so-subtle way of saying “fuck you” to the infamous rules of the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. J-Law is a (fashion) force and I applaud the boldness she brings along with her class to the red carpets.

  3. Karlie Kloss in Dior - A modern day Greek Goddess. Wow. I know it can’t be difficult to look gorgeous when you’re a supermodel pregnant with a billionaire’s child, but this look really stands out. The color, the draping, the jewels-- DIVINE!

  4. Jennie in Chanel Haute Couture - This dress is so pretty!! The knee-length dress is covered in white lace and evokes Old Hollywood. The platform shoes bring some modernity to the look and the black bow and tulle underlay add the right amount of bombshell to this look.

  5. Scarlett Johanss0n in Prada - Speaking of bombshell….

  6. Caroline Daur in Schiaparelli - I would normally hate a dress like this. Silhouettes drawn on a dress remind me of trashy beach towels and T-shirts, but this dress doesn’t do that. That ice blue color stands out amongst a sea of pastel princess dresses and she looks like a living sculpture. Her accessories are perfect; and I would normally hate shoes like this.

  7. Naomi Campbell in Valentino Couture- I am such a fan for mixing these two colors. And Naomi Campbell. There’s nothing else to say.

  8. Natalie Portman in Dior- So much history attached to this dress! According to Women’s Wear Daily, this custom Christian Dior piece was inspired by the "Junon" dress from the 1949-1950 fall/winter collection. The original dress is part of The Costume Institute's collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.” The intricate blue beading is hand done and meant to resemble feathers of a peacock, sigh…
